In the 17nth century, our esteemed Chief Mohlomi Mokoena, a healer and one of the greatest philosophers that the world has ever seen, made a substantial and courageous initiative to promote peace and protect the vulnerable. He also made the following statement. He said: – “Peace is delicate and fragile, just like those who are vulnerable, women, young people and those who are different from us”.

King Moshoeshoe-I on peace; “Peace is the rain that makes grass grow. War is the wind that dries it up. I want peace”.

Former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela on peace, poverty and race: On poverty he said: “Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life. The dire poverty of some is not an affliction which impacts only on those who are deprived. It reverberates across the globe and ineluctably impacts negatively on the whole of humanity, including those who live in conditions of comfort and plenty.”

Mandela on peace he said: “Peace is not just the absence of conflict; peace is the creation of an environment where all can flourish, regardless of race, colour, creed, religion, gender, class, caste, or any other social markers of difference. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all.

300 Years later – “A luta continua”

• The contemporary global environment presents significant challenges and hostility to the vulnerable and peace. The world we live in is, a bit of a jungle, cruel and merciless towards the vulnerable, mainly women, youth, children. Peace and social security are also threatened…
• The economic cruelty and hostility against peace and the vulnerable continues
• World military budgets are into trillions of Euros driven by world’s multibillionaires and yet millions of children go for days without food.
• South Africa and Sub-Sahara are a typical environment of such hostility towards the vulnerable and peace.
• The “Culture of Economic-Exclusion” continues to marginalize the vulnerable across the globe.

• In South Africa, we are 30 Years into Democracy,

1. Thirty years of democracy, 10% of the 300 years since Chief Mohlomi Mokoena’s emphasis on the significance of a peaceful inclusive economy.
2. Three decades after the former President Mandela walked on the footsteps of Moshweshwe-I and established South Africa on principles of peace,
3. This “Economic-Exclusion-Culture” is continuously dividing and conquering hearts and souls of Rainbow-Nation children, mercilessly this culture is sowing the seeds of economic selfishness, brutality and self-destruction. 
4. As a result, the gap between the rich and poor youth | women | man is widening and threatening social Peace of South-Africa.
5. This culture is subjecting rural SA and townships to heartless conditions of endless unemployment and charity wages.
